Daniel Webster

What’s the most important thought that ever entered your mind?

I pray that like Daniel Webster, we could say, “my individual responsibility to God”

Think with me for a minute. We will all stand before God at some time, will you stand as a son of God or as a sinner who would never accept the finished work of Jesus the Christ on the cross? Let’s take a moment and look at what Jesus did for us on that cross. (The us are any that have accepted His death for our sins and made Him Lord of your life).

Before we can go there, we need to look at Who Jesus Is, … He Is the Great I AM, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. Keep this in the back of your mind, Christ always was and is and His Death on the cross was not a tragedy it was a triumph. Remember God does not have a plan “B”.

A verse in the book of Revelation points this out, verse 8 of chapter 1:

Revelation 1:8 KJV

The Lord God says, "I am Alpha and Omega, the one who is and was and is coming. I am God All-Powerful!"

Did you pick up on His eternal nature? ( who is and was). Now that’s an awesome God! If you have accepted the death and Resurrection of Jesus the Christ and made Him Lord of your life, you are a child of God and joint heir with Jesus Christ.

So, as we again look at the question that I asked at the beginning, “What’s the most important thought that ever entered your mind”? How will you answer. My prayer for you is that like Daniel Webster you could say, “it’s my individual responsibility to God”.

Now there are two possible outcomes to this question:

  1. I have come to realize that I, like everyone else, was born a sinner and I cannot work my way to righteousness and I need a savior, one that would take my place and provide forgiveness for my sins so that I could go free and be justified as if I never sinned.
  2. Or I can turn my back on His death on the cross in my place for my sins. In that case, I will be responsible for my own sins. Should I follow this coarse of action, my eternal separation from God and the punishment that I would receive would not be because of any sin that I have committed, NO my punishment would be because I would not accept the Death and Resurrection of Jesus the Christ as a substitute payment for my sins. This and this only is the reason one would be sent to hell.

Revelation 20:12 KJV

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

My prayer for you is that you would not be among the dead that are being judged. Take a moment and ask Jesus Christ into your heart and become a son of God. Remember He is only a prayer away.
